Company’s Activities

Govdhan Industries is a family run business as plastic convertors, printers and maintenance workshop. Our main business consists of plastic conversion, i.e. Injection Moulding of Plastics, which consists of 9 Injection Moulding machines ranging from 50 ton to 700 ton capacity.

In the last 10 years, Govdhan Industries (Pty) Ltd. has specialized in Injection Moulded items for domestic and scholastic use. In the domestic market, our prime consideration was the requirements of Africa. Considering Africa's political and economical conditions and burdened with poverty, our designers introduced domestic items of plastic to carry or store water, washing and for the distribution of food. All these items suit the African market.

Our scholastic range consists of 30cm school rulers designed according to SABS standard requirements. In the last 5 years, our production has increased from 250,000 units per month to 1,000,000 units per month, servicing the entire South Africa. With the South African economic policies, we are encouraged to invest in the now competing world markets. Our associated company, Triom Industries cc, therefore entered the extrusion industry and is manufacturing school pencil erasers together with the Clever Clive range that is concentrated on the packaging and distribution of our products. In the scholastic market, we specialize in the manufacture of 30cm and 15cm school rulers, promotional rulers and school erasers. Due to our geographical location, i.e. +/- 200 km from Johannesburg and +/- 450km from Durban, we have developed our own transport system to carry products economically to the main business centres of South Africa.

The company, Govdhan Industries (Pty) Ltd, employs 10 permanent employees and 20 temporary employees depending on the workload. The company, managed and run on a day-to-day basis by three qualified engineers and three highly trained technical employees. The company runs shifts on a 24 hour production schedule and complies with all labour regulations stipulated by the Government of South Africa. The company is registered with the Metal Engineering Industries Bargaining Council and complies with all related matters.

Founder’s Background

Govdhan Industries (Pty) Ltd was the brainchild of Jayram Daya, who was educated in Mechanical Engineering with the help of the United Nations Development Programme. Being a victim of job reservation, he started his own company with the aim of serving his people through the knowledge he had obtained. Having observed the demand in the scholastic and domestic, markets he used his knowledge and expertise to promote products for the use of people living “on the bread line”.
